In 2020, we had the privilege of partnering with the Rotary Club of Soroti Central to bring clean water to the community of Usuk in Katakwi District. Our task was to construct a solar-powered borehole that would serve over 3,000 meters, as well as two manual boreholes.
We were able to successfully drill a production well that had an impressive yield of 5,000 liters per hour. To ensure that the community had access to the water, we installed a solar pump with two water tanks with a capacity of 20,000 liters. Additionally, we constructed three concrete water tap stands in various locations of the village.
Despite the challenging circumstances presented by the Covid-19 lockdown period, we were able to complete the project on time. The impact of this project was immense and it significantly improved the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services in the community of Usuk. We are proud to have been a part of this project and to have contributed to the betterment of the community.
